- Body fat - how to lose it the right way
The human body is composed of body fat, muscle, bones, organs and so on. The part of the body without body fat is called lean body mass. Weight loss means losing body fat and increasing the percentage of lean body mass. There is a general idea that if a person appears a bit fat, he is overweight. However, even if someone looks fat, it doesnft mean he is necessarily overweight, because he might actually have enough muscle mass. On the other hand, someone who looks very thin may, in fact, have less muscle mass and a proportionate excess of body fat.
Normally, when people commence a diet, they cut down on food. Of course they will lose weight, but if this is done incorrectly they will not only lose body mass but they will lose their crucial lean body mass such as muscle or bone mass. As a result they would actually increase their percentage of body fat, completely the opposite of what they are trying to achieve. In addition, if they stop their diet, the excess weight will come back immediately. To complicate matters further, their lean body mass cannot be increased.
In order to lose weight correctly, exercise is crucial to help reduce body fat, increase muscle mass and increase the metabolic rate ? a faster metabolism burns more fat.

-Cardio exercise and Resistance Training-
Cardio exercise is the type of exercise where you need a constant supply of oxygen. Long distance running, swimming, aerobics, dance and skipping are all forms of cardio exercise. There is also anaerobic exercise which doesnft need oxygen so intensively during exercise. Short distance sprint, power lifting or resistance training are all types of anaerobic exercise.
For optimal weight loss, a diet combined with cardio exercise is highly effective. You can control the energy intake and consume a certain amount of energy or burn the body fat as energy. However, it is impossible to increase the muscle mass with just cardio exercise, so you ideally need a combination of different exercise routines to build up the muscles and reduce the body fat - both cardio and anaerobic exercises. In this way, energy consumption is increased and muscle tone can be maintained.
